Separation of church and state is not a founding principal of our nation, it’s essentially a myth. 1A is meant to protect the church from the government, not the other way around. Sadly, many Americans don’t realize this since revisionist history is taught in schools. It’s wild, since a basic perusal of US history shows that religion was always an active part of American public life.
Apparently (most) Americans are disinterested in checking in the facts. ‘Separation of church and state’ that phrase and anything akin to it, is not in the constitution. It came from Thomas Jefferson’s private letter to the Danbury baptist in 1802, 15 years AFTER the constitution was written, ratified and signed in. The Danbury baptist was worried that the government would restrict their religious worship, but President Jefferson made sure that that would not happen, because the 1st Amendment prohibits the federal government from establishing a national state church or prohibiting people’s worship.
It’s crazy how it’s been turned upside and misused to do the opposite of what it was originally intended to do.

Isn’t it crazy? Ideas have devastating consequences...
The main problem was that the founding father’s Protestant heresies were a multitude of sects fighting against each other.
The US should have been conceived as one Roman Catholic Kingdom.
